OK it is about time that Nikon provide me with a camera I can use on Songkran (the annual water festival in Thailand). Actually it used to be a water festival, now it is actually sort of a water war, so a waterproof and tough camera is appreciated. Some of you are probably thinking, what is he on about? Nikon has waterproof cameras. Yes they do but they don’t have interchangeable lenses and most important for me they do not shoot RAW.
Nikon being just as good at the slow teasing reveal of features as Apple Computers, is of course not going to give us a full on waterproof professional camera just yet, but it will definitely be good enough for the next Songkran.

The Nikon 1 mirror-less cameras are hardly out of the gate and we already have a Nikon 1 J1, J2 and the new J3, a Nikon 1 V1 and V2, and now a new Nikon 1 S1. All of the Nikon 1 models can still be bought new from Nikon and if that is not confusing enough The Nikon 1 J2, J3, V2, and S1 are all listed as new models on the Nikon website.
To clear things up a bit, the latest models in the three different categories are the Nikon S1, J3 and V2. The S1 is the lower resolution 10.1 megapixel, less featured, model of the J series and to make things less confusing for us has a new slightly curvier body design. The J3 is the new 14.2 megapixel top of the line viewfinder screen model and the V2 is the new 14.2 megapixel electronic viewfinder top of the line model.
